PW7 Division Rules

PW7 Division Rules

Base Baths: Set at 60' Pitching Machine: Set at 40'

Pitching – This division will use a pitching machine for the entire game.

Each batter receives five pitches or three swinging attempts at the ball. If after the fifth pitch; the player has not hit the ball, the player shall be counted as striking out. A tipped or fouled ball, on the fifth pitch continues the at bat.

The intent of the rule is to teach the player that even though there may be a total of five pitches delivered to any given player; they must learn to distinguish between what is commonly considered to be a strike and what is commonly considered to be a ball.

Stealing – No stealing any bases in any situation, including passed balls or overthrows.

Positions –  A fourth outfielder may be on the field, to break up the spacing in the outfield. This is an outfielder, not a short fielder or rover position. The four outfielders are to be stationed at even distances and used as outfielders.

Infield Hits – If a ball is hit to the infield, each runner (including the batter) may only advance to the next base unless the defense attempts to secure an out against a runner at any base and the ball is overthrown. If the ball is hit to the infield and the defense overthrows the ball in an attempt to secure an out against a runner at any base, then each runner may only advance to the next base.

If the defense attempts to secure an out against a runner advancing on an overthrow and the ball is overthrown again, then the play is dead and each base runner must stop at the base for which the player is committed to at the time the play was deemed dead.

Coaches Boxes - These are designated areas to either side of home plate for each respective team. These boxes are designed for the coaches to coach their players while in the batter's box. The coach may leave the box between pitches to provide coaching tips to the batter but must return for the next pitch. Once all five pitches have been dispersed the coaches may help the catcher collect the baseballs and return them to the pitcher. The coaches should not be standing in front of the scorekeeper’s table.

Outfield Hits – If the ball is hit to the outfield, runners may advance until the ball reaches the interior of the base lines, at which point all runners may only safely reach the base for which they are committed. If the ball reaches the interior of the base lines and base runners are in the process of advancing to the next base, any runner shall not be deemed safe until he or she safely reaches an empty base.

If, after successfully returning the ball to the infield from an outfield hit, the defense overthrows the ball in an attempt to secure an out against a runner, the play is dead, and each base runner must stop at the base for which he or she is committed at the time the play was deemed dead.

Maximum Runs - Maximum of six runs per inning rule will apply and is defined as: Once the sixth run crosses home plate, the inning is ended. No additional base runners may score. If a home run over the fence is hit, the batter will be credited with the home run.

Regulation Game/Time Limits - PeeWee 7 games will consist of five innings, or no new inning after one hour, 40 minutes. Games can end in a tie.
