PW8 Division Rules

All official NFHS Baseball pitching rules will remain in effect at all times.

Base Path: Set at 60' Pitching Mound: Set at 44'

Stealing of Home – The division will have a No Steal Home Rule in place until on or after the fourth Monday in April. Under this rule, a player cannot steal home on a passed pitch or while the catcher is in the act of throwing back to the pitcher. The runner may attempt to steal home from third base only if an attempt is made on him or another runner and he may only advance in the event of a play on a runner. This will result in an automatic time out after the runner is forced back to any base.

This rule will not apply after the fourth Monday in April to simulate tournament play.

Maximum Runs - Maximum of six runs per inning rule will apply and is defined as: Once the sixth run crosses home plate, the inning is ended. No additional base runners may score. If a home run over the fence is hit, the batter will be credited with the home run.

Regulation Game/Time Limits - PeeWee 8 games will consist of five innings, or no new inning after one hour, 40 minutes with a drop-dead* time of one hour, 50 minutes. Games can end in a tie.

* When drop-dead is reached one of the following will apply:

  • If the visiting team is at bat, or if the home team is at bat and losing, the score will default to the last completed inning.
  • If the home team is winning, or the game is tied, the score at the drop-dead time stands.

Fall Baseball - the division will utilize a pitching machine for the first two innings and there will be NO stealing of home while the pitching machine is in use.  The remainder of the game will utilize PW8 players as pitchers and players are allowed to steal home.  Pitch count rules apply when players are pitching.
