COACHING & TEAM STRUCTURE

Team Structure

Each team during the regular season will be comprised of the following:

Coaches

Coaches are responsible for following WJCH Baseball’s Mission and Values while teaching level-appropriate playing skills and rules. Division Commissioners and Board Members can assist coaches with resources, as needed.

Only registered coaches* will be allowed on the field of play (including the dugout) during league games. All official league coaches will be required to register, accept the League Coaches Agreement and pass a League assigned background check.

To ensure player safety and security, a minimum of one League registered coach must be present for ALL team practices and events.

In the event of a mid-season coaching change, new coaches will be required to complete the Coaches Registration process through the league’s website and pass a background check.

Coaches will be provided with an equipment bag containing practice and player safety equipment at the beginning of the season. The coach will be responsible for returning the bag as assigned at the end of the season before team photos will be released. The league reserves the right to hold the head coach financially responsible for missing equipment.

*Any coaching substitute must be approved by the Division Commissioner or Board Member on duty before the game begins.

Team Parent

The Official Team Parent is responsible for facilitating all administrative duties such as after-game treats, fundraisers, recruiting an official scorekeeper for every game, and other duties as needed.

Scorekeepers

West Jordan Copper Hills Baseball will use GameChanger as its official Scorekeeping platform. Each team will provide a scorekeeper for each game. The Home Team is responsible for the official record (GameChanger), while the Visiting team is responsible for operating the scoreboard. The Home team’s record will be the official record of pitch count and runs. Home Team Scorekeepers should not end the game until both head coaches approve the final record. Any disputes in the official record must be resolved prior to the official game end.

Scorekeepers are not permitted in the field of play, including the dugout. They will be provided with designated seating and must be available to board members, game officials and head coaches of each team throughout the game. If the Home Team’s official scorekeeper is unavailable, the Home Team is required to provide a substitute. Under no circumstances will a coach for either team be allowed to keep the official score.

A win will be deducted from the record of the team that does not provide the appropriate scorekeeper.
